JOIN US IN CREATING SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY

When you support Gallery TPW, you make an immediate contribution to our work of supporting the arts and artists in Canada. The operating budget of Gallery TPW is $360,000 per year, compared with $31 Million per year for the AGO or $3 Million per year for the Power Plant.

You will see the direct impact your donation has on Gallery TPW. We invite you to attend the exhibitions and opening receptions your contribution helps us realize. Stay in touch and watch the development of new programs made possible through your participation.

OUR PAST, OUR POTENTIAL

Visionary artists and curators came together in 1977 with a passion for contemporary photography and the drive to showcase the most innovative art in the city. Michael Mitchell, David Harris, and Barbara Astman were among Gallery TPW’s earliest members.

Developing the talent of curators, writers and art administrators is another important part of our mandate. Through our mentorship programs, we make a difference in the early careers of many art professionals who hone their skills at Gallery TPW. Original publications accompany each exhibition and give excellent writers an opportunity to reach a wide audience.

PROGRAMMING IS PARAMOUNT

Our aim is to present the best work exploring the exchange between photography, new technologies and time based media, as well as the role that images play in contemporary culture.

In 2007, we celebrated our 30th anniversary, and we continue to grow with a dynamic and engaging range of programming, from young Canadian artists to watch out for, to important international artists. In 2008 we launched This is Not a Blog, our interactive discussion series on issues in contemporary art.

We also continue to collaborate with our exciting colleagues in the city — TIFF, Images Festival, Contact Festival, and this year we are also working with The Theatre Centre, Fado, and Danceworks.

Over the course of 2011 we will continue our presentation of You had to be there, a special series of live events looking at the intersection of liveness and time based media collaborating with some of Toronto’s best performance and media institutions.
